The relay that re-posts every group message in each language, your inbox language, translating one message, and the language the AI writes in.

The relay for group chats

A connected team chat can have several languages. With the relay on, every message is re-posted in each of the others, so everyone reads every message in their own language.

Example on the page: Group languages and the relay, live. The two controls from the conversation sidebar. Change them and watch what the group would see.

The post comes from Proptonomy right after the original, marked with a globe and the sender’s name. One block per language, each labelled in that language. The original is never changed. Proptonomy’s own messages are relayed the same way.

• Two or more languages: Everyone reads every message in their own language.
• Exactly one language: That language is the chat’s. Anything written in another language is re-posted in it. A message already in it is left alone.
• Learns as it goes: When someone writes twice in a language the chat does not have yet, it is added, up to eight, with a notice: Added Polski to this chat’s languages because Piotr writes in it. Reply ‘Proptonomy remove Polski’ to undo.
• Skips: Its own relay posts, internal notes, and messages with nothing to translate, such as a lone emoji, a link, or a mention."
• Several messages in a row: Consecutive messages from the same person become one post.

Turning the relay on and off

From the app, from the chat with a plain command, or by asking the assistant. Staff only, group chats only.

• In the app. Open the conversation, and under Linked entities set Group languages with Add a language, then switch on Relay every message. The line under the switch says what will happen: Each message is re-posted in Norsk, English.
• From the chat, no AI needed. Write Proptonomy languages: no, en to set the list, Proptonomy add Svenska or Proptonomy remove Svenska to change it, Proptonomy relay off or Proptonomy relay on, and Proptonomy help. Proptonomy confirms with Group languages: Norsk, English. Relay: on.
• By asking the assistant. Everything in English please, our cleaners read Polish, remove Norwegian, stop translating. The assistant changes the setting for this chat only, and confirms.

Your inbox language

A personal reading preference. It changes what you see, never what guests or teammates see.

In the inbox, open Inbox language. Display messages in picks your language from fourteen. The checkbox Translate inbox messages automatically translates incoming messages as they arrive. Translations are cached and reused across your team. Every translated message stays clearly labelled. Press Save preference.

Translating one message

Example on the page: A message from a colleague, translated. The label above the text says where it came from. Show original brings the Polish back.

Piotr (Translated from Polish · Show original): The guest at Nygårdsgaten 4 left the keys inside. I used the key box.
Jonas (coordinator): Thanks. I have told Heimby.

• Each message in a conversation has Translate. It translates that message into your inbox language and shows Translated from Polish · Show original above the text.
• Show original and Show translated switch back and forth. Nothing is sent to the other side.
• A message already in your language says so instead of translating.

The language the AI writes in

Set per conversation. For a team chat where people write in different languages, pin the one the assistant should use.

In a conversation’s sidebar, the field AI language sets the language every AI-written message to that conversation is composed in. The default, Mirror whoever writes, follows the language of recent messages. Or pin one of the fourteen languages.

In a connected team chat, people can pin it from the chat as well. Reply to one of the assistant’s messages with the name of a language, or just write the language’s name, and it is set for that chat.
